Smart Energy Systems for Office Buildings

A​ ​smart​ ​and​ ​sustainable​ ​Zuidas: The​ ​potential​ ​of​ ​smart​ ​energy​ ​systems​ ​in​ ​office​ ​buildings​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Zuidas

This research explores the potential of smart energy systems to be applicable and upscalable in office buildings at the Zuidas, to make them more energy efficient. The aim is to consider the opportunities for smart infrastructure, such as smart grids and electric chargers, for the Zuidas. We conducted a case study with ‘The Edge’ (an office building), for which we interviewed policy-makers, the architect, energy management operators, and various users.

This was an interdisciplinary research project, by 4 students from various academic backgrounds, including urban planning, business, and artificial intelligence.
